Klassische Tibetische Medizin – 2 Books Text/(Rare) 1996
Illustrations of the treatise ‘Blue Beryl’ by Sangye Gyamtso (1653-1705). Vorw. D. XIVth Dalai Lama. Insert v. Fernand Meyer
Classical Tibetan Medicine is the facsimile edition of a seventeenth-century set of illustrations of a famous medical treatise.
The complex system of prevention and treatment presented here in words and pictures has been used since the eighth century and continues to be practiced in parts of Tibet, India, Nepal, Ladakh, Buthans and Mongolia until today. Tibetan medicine would have remained forever in the dark, had not Sangye Gyamtso (1653-1705), regent of the Great Fifth Dalai Lama and founder of the famous Chagpori Medical Monastic University in Lhasa, grouped this complex and complex wisdom into a coherent knowledge building.
The roots of this rich system of diagnosis and treatment are captured in 77 brilliant, colorful images of great detail that illustrate his famous treatise. They form the center of this exquisite edition.
These are the exact replicas of the original illustrations of the treatise Blauer Beryll, written between 1687 and 1703. We know of two sets of these figures that have remained intact in Chinese-occupied Tibet, but the most complete, reproduced here, has recently come to light outside the borders of Tibet. The 77 pictures were found near Lake Baikal in southern Siberia in the Buryat Museum in Ulan Ude, Buryatia.
